Rock & Bang

Another very graphic, typographic work from me. The basis is formed by a mass of illustrated colorful hand gestures, which is particularly attributed to the music genre of metal and rock. The origin of the Metal Sign is claimed by various rock stars like Gene Simmons (Kiss) or Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath). It is interesting, however, that the gesture was used in 1968 by John Lennon on promo photos to the album Yellow Submarine by The Beatles, is also shown by the Lennon performing cartoon character on posters and album covers for the animated film Yellow Submarine. Elvis Presley continued to gesture at 28 October 1956 one, when he sang in the transmitted from the TV Ed Sullivan Show Hound Dog. Presley was initially only with the index finger to the audience, but in the course to the said gesture.

Focus of the work is a powerful typography, which is visualized in fracture decorated in a staccato of “Rock, Rock, ROCK, Bang, Bang” as a powerful and harmonious power. Contrarily, it is held in monochrome and completes the picture through harmonic opposition.
